Are gift certificates better as a present, or is money better as a present?

Ive opened my wallet and found an old futureshop gift card, sadly, when i went to buy something, they told me it had expired >_>

Money lasts forever, but gift certificates expire, and theyre only good at certain stores. its like trading in your money for something that acts like money but is worse.

money is obviously the best unless it's iTunes, because iTunes cards make it easier to pay. Other than that, cash money all the way.

LOLOL i have like 6 cents of canadian tire money or something. I was thinking of photocopying it, since they cant be using any high-grade counterfitting stuff, but then, id noticed i would have to copy a million of those, and it just isnt worth it.
